Diana Bullen Presciutti
Postdoctoral Fellow, Ph.D. (2008) Art History, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
Presciutti’s dissertation “The Visual Culture of the Foundling Hospital in Central Italy, 1400-1600”
examines how visual culture shaped perceptions of charity toward
abandoned children and the institutions that cared for them. While at
Rice, she will revise her dissertation for publication as a book. She will also begin work on a second book project, focusing on the
visual culture of institutions of confinement, rehabilitation, and
reintegration of “problematic” women and converted Jews and Muslims in
sixteenth- and early seventeenth-century Italy. Presciutti is currently teaching "Baroque Art and Architecture in Italy, Spain, and the New World" (HART 344/ARCH 379).
